Marielle Goiteschel and Chloé Trespeuch: two legends of ski and snowboarcross
The Hotel Marielle, located in the heart of the Val Thorens resort, is proud to partner with Chloé Trespeuch, a young French snowboard cross prodigy. This choice is in line with the hotel's desire to pay tribute to Marielle Goitschel, legendary French skier and source of inspiration for generations of athletes.
Marielle Goitschel, an icon of French skiing
A figure from Val Thorens
This French skier, born in 1945, left her mark on the history of skiing. Firstly through her strong personality, secondly through her achievements and thirdly through her contribution to the development of Val Thorens. In just 6 years, Marielle Goitschel won two Olympic gold medals and seven world championship titles. A precocious youngster, she joined the French national team at just 14 and went on to win the World Combined title at the age of 16, at the World Championships in Chamonix. At the age of 23, Marielle Goitschel ended her career after the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games, with a final Olympic title in slalom.
In 1972, Marielle Goitschel arrived in the newly built Val Thorens. Jean Béranger, who had coached her, set up the Tourist Office, the French Ski School and the Sports Club. She was one of the pioneers who gave the resort its soul. Marielle Goitschel is a legend in her own right, thanks to her fame on the slopes: in the 70s, she was the driving force behind the Académie des Neiges, open to children and families. If pleasure can be learned, it can also be shared.
L'Hôtel Marielle, a history of transmission
This is the spirit in which the Marielle story continues. The spirit of the Val Thorens pioneers is still intact, and the grand house imagined by Marielle Goitschel remains "in the family". A family at heart, since the former champion chose to place her future in the hands of two investors in love with Val Thorens, Gilles Ridel and Jean-Michel Bénard, already owners of the Le Chamois d'Or residence. They met in the early 1980s, and their friendship is rooted in a shared commitment to the resort and its values. When, two years ago, Marielle Goitschel decided to hand over the reins, it was quite naturally to her entrepreneurial friends that she chose to sell the house.
This modern, high-end hotel project is based on conviviality, transmission and a contemporary vision of the mountain hotel industry, supported by the young Assas Hotels group, which is in charge of the hotel's management and renovation. The hotel is managed by Grégoire Le Solleuz, a young man bursting with talent, ideas and energy who has just arrived from Courchevel, where he successfully worked for a major hotel of the same standing.
Architect Leslie Gauthier, who is responsible for the signature look and feel of the group's hotels, took inspiration from the house's ambiance to open a new chapter in its history.
Comfortable, refined, modern and enlarged, the Hôtel Marielle has kept its soul.
